According to Your Faith

Two blind men came to Jesus for healing in Matthew 9, and He didn't heal them. At least not right away. They followed him, begging Him for mercy and healing.

They even followed Him inside the house (Matthew 9:28). Finally, Jesus turns and says, "Believe ye that I am able to do this?"

They answered, "Yea, Lord."

So, Jesus touched their eyes and pronounced something rather profound. "According to your faith be it unto you."

I wonder sometimes if the miracles in our life are small because they are 'according to' our faith.

Young children have huge faith in their parents. It can be scary sometimes to be honest, but that faith fades over it. Either because we have failed them (because we're human) or because the child feels let down, regardless of whether or not the parent had messed up.

We do that to God too when He gives us what is best not what we wanted. That can cause us to lose a little faith in Him. But that's on us. Not Him.

Generally speaking, the world's advice would be, 'Grow up and realize your parent does things for a reason, even when you can't see the reason.' And they wouldn't be wrong, yet the 'grown ups' are the ones most likely to have less faith in God their Father.

Why is that? It's probably because we've grown up physically but not spiritually. But also, don't forget that Jesus encourages us to have the faith of a child.

A truly 'grown up' Christian knows the value of a childlike faith.

Going back to our story today, after Jesus said, "According to your faith be it unto you," the Bible records that the blind men's eyes were opened. They were healed because they had faith big enough to believe it was possible.

How big is your faith?
