Have you ever thought about the image of God as our rock of salvation?
The first thing that came to mind for me was:
Unmovable
Isn't it wonderful to think that God cannot be moved? Our salvation is a settled thing. No one can change God's mind on the matter. Once accepted, it is ours forever.
Solid foundation
God is a sure foundation. Come the winds and storms of life, our salvation doesn't change, doesn't move. It's sure.
A weapon
Who can forget how David killed Goliath? With a rock! (Well, technically the Bible said stone, but we're picking at hairs to notice that.) God can be our weapon, our defence, our Saviour.
Notice our text says both sing and noise
I'm not saying God has the hearing ability of a rock, but isn't it wonderful that the Bible includes all vocal talents (or lack thereof!)? We can sing. We can even attempt to sing, and that's okay with God. He takes it all and enjoys it as if the honking of a goose was on equal footing as the glorious tweets of a nightingale because it is the heart that matters to God. How great is our God!
"O come, let us worship and bow down:
let us kneel before the Lord our maker." Ps. 95:6
Our rock of salvation!
